Orblies Field Guide

How every system in the game works, in plain words.

Start here

Orblies is about catching cute creatures, growing a team that fights beside you, and slowly unlocking five maps. Nothing here needs to be rushed: big rewards take time, but you always get there.

Your first 10 minutes

  1. Leave Moonrise Village through the gate into Meadow Fields. Wild Orblies hop around in the grass.
  2. Weaken one. Switch to Attack mode and shoot it until it surrenders (low HP, it stops running). Surrendered Orblies are much easier to catch.
  3. Catch it. Switch to Capture mode and throw a Nexorb. Your first 5 catches become your team and follow you around.
  4. Let your team fight. Whatever you hit, your team attacks too. They earn XP and level up with you.
  5. Collect coins from knockouts and treasure chests, then buy the next map on the area bar at the top.

The basic loop

Hunt → catch → get stronger → unlock the next map. Every map has stronger Orblies, better drops and its own rare plant.

Spare copies are never useless: you can fuse, re-egg or release them in the Forge.

Log in every day

Claim the Daily Gift, finish 3 Daily Quests and work on the Weekly Challenge. All of them also fill your Moon Pass.

Open with the green Rewards button on the right.

The screen at a glance

  • Top: where you are, and how many coins you need for the next map.
  • Left: the menu (Bag, Map, Shop, Forge, Orbliedex...) and your Coins + Moonshards.
  • Right: Rank, quests, Rewards and Events.
  • Bottom: HP, XP, your level, your 5 team Orblies and the Capture / Attack box.
Tip: hover any icon or slot on PC to see a hint about it.

Controls

The same actions work on PC, phone and gamepad. On phones, use the on-screen AIM and FIRE buttons.

Catching & combat

Weaken first, then catch. Lower HP means a better catch chance, and the reticle always shows your chance before you throw.

Surrender

Hit an Orblie down to about 20% HP and it surrenders: it stops running and the catch chance goes up by ×1.5. Your team stops attacking it so they don't ruin the catch.

At 0 HP it is knocked out instead. You get coins and XP, but it can't be caught.

Mercy Hit (game pass) keeps Orblies at 1 HP so you never knock out one you wanted.

They fight back

Once you hit a wild Orblie, it and its neighbours shoot back. Stronger species (higher in their map's list) hit harder.

Side-step or Shift-dash to dodge. If you leave them alone for a few seconds, their HP comes back.

Nexorbs

Pick which one you throw in Bag → Nexorbs → Use. Basic is free and unlimited; every other kind is used up per throw. Better maps drop better Nexorbs.

NexorbCatch powerWhere from
Basic60%Free, unlimited
Improved70%Drops in Meadow / Woods, Daily Gift
Advanced78%Woods, Canyon
Elite85%Canyon, Frostpeak
Master90%Frostpeak, Isles, Moon Pass
Legendary95%Frostpeak, Isles (rare)
Mythic100%Moonlit Isles (very rare)

Catch Combo

Catch the same species again and again to build a combo. A different species restarts it.

ComboName
×10Warm
×25Hot
×50Blazing
×100Moonfire
×250Legend

Higher combos give better Potential, a chance of Starlit, and even a chance that the catch turns Glimmer.

Bosses & chests in the wild

Each map has a big boss Orblie. It attacks anyone who walks close and is very hard to catch at full HP. Weaken it a lot first.

Treasure chests (Treasure, Golden, Void) sit around every map. Attack them in Attack mode; your team helps.

Your sword

Wear a Backsword and left-click (not aiming) for quick slashes that dash you into the nearest Orblie. The 4th hit is a spinning Shadow Cyclone that hits everything around you.

Your Orblies

Every Orblie you own has a quality, genes, a level and a trait. Hover one in the Bag to see all of it.

Quality

Rolled when you catch or hatch it. Higher quality = more damage and more power.

Normal → Refine → Unique → Elite → Super

Raise it later with Star Cores (Forge → Evolve).

Potential (genes)

A grade from C to S: C ×1.0, B ×1.1, A ×1.25, S ×1.5 damage and power. Breeding passes good genes on.

★ Starlit is a rare golden variant that sparkles. ✦ Glimmer Orblies are even rarer (see below).

✦ Glimmer Orblies

About 1 in 500 wild spawns is a shimmering Glimmer. Everyone on the server is told, and it fades after 3 minutes, so hurry.

A caught Glimmer stays special forever: +25% damage, +15% Battle Power, and it is worth 5× in Fuse and 10× Moon Essence.

Levels

Your team gets XP from every catch, knockout, boss and chest. Orblies level twice as fast as you but never above your own level.

At Lv 20, 40, 60 and 80 they stop and need a Breakthrough (see Maps & plants).

Your team (5 Orblies)

Pick your team in Bag → Orblies: Add to Team, Remove, or Swap In. Equip Best fills it with your strongest. The slot order matters: slot 1 is your Leader.

The padlock on an Orblie's card Locks it, so the Forge never uses it up by accident.

Leader & Helpers

Slot 1 is your Leader. It wears a crown, hits 20% harder and fills a Spirit bar (shown on its team slot) every time your team attacks. When the bar is full, it casts its element's skill on your target:

Leader elementSkillEffect
LightMoonbeamLight pillar, small area
ElectricThunder PounceChains to 3 enemies
DragonDragon RoarBig area
RockBoulder DropHuge single hit
IceFrost NovaArea
WaterTidal SplashWide area
FireFlame BurstArea
GrassThorn BloomArea
ShadowNight StrikeThe biggest single hit
PoisonToxic CloudArea

Slots 2-5 are Helpers. Every time the Leader casts, each helper adds its element's assist:

Helper elementAssist
LightBright Heal: heals you 6%
WaterSoothing Wave: heals you 4% and wakes dazed Orblies
GrassRegrowth: heals you 8% over 4 s
RockStone Guard: you take 25% less damage for 5 s
IceDeep Freeze: the target can't attack for 3 s
ElectricSpark Chain: zaps 2 more enemies
FireBurn: the target burns for 3 s
PoisonWeaken: the target takes 20% more damage for 6 s
DragonEmpower: the Leader's skill hits 30% harder
ShadowShadow Rush: your next 3 team attacks hit 50% harder
Mix your team! Each element's assist only counts once, so 4 helpers of 4 different elements give 4 assists. Hover the crown on slot 1 to see your current skill and assists.

Traits

Every Orblie is born with one trait in one of four tiers: Common, Rare, Epic, Mythic.

TraitTypeBonus (Common → Mythic)
FierceSelf+8% → +35% damage for this Orblie
KeenSelf6% → 22% chance this Orblie hits ×2
LuckyTeam+3% → +12% Coins
ScholarTeam+4% → +16% XP
CharmerTeam+2% → +8% catch chance
ForagerTeam10% → 40% chance of an extra plant
SeekerTeam+4% → +16% gear and Meteor drops
GuardianTeam3% → 12% less damage taken

Self traits power up that Orblie. Team traits help you while the Orblie is on your team, and only your best copy of each team trait counts. Reroll traits in Forge → Traits. Traits are switched off in the Ring so PvP stays fair.

Battle Power

Your overall strength, shown under the XP bar. Max 400: up to 100 from your level, up to 100 from your team, up to 200 from your gear.

The Forge

The anvil button in the menu. Every tab works the same way: pick your gear or Orblie on the right, add materials, press the green button.

Compose gear

Feed Meteors (+1 to +8 stones) or spare +n gear into a piece of gear to raise it from +0 up to +10. Each +n needs more points; leftover points are kept.

Spare gear must be the same type, the same level or lower, and not better quality than the main item.

Quality gear

Spend Star Cores to raise gear one quality step: 1 → 2 → 5 → 12 Star Cores from Normal up to Super.

Evolve Orblie

Spend Star Cores to raise an Orblie's quality: 1 / 3 / 8 / 20 Star Cores for each step up to Super.

Fuse Orblie

Feed copies of the same species into one Orblie to make it +1 up to +10. Each + gives +8% damage and +5% Battle Power.

Better copies (quality, Potential, level, Starlit, Glimmer) give more points. Moon Essence fills the bar too (4 Essence = 1 point).

Level gate: +n needs the Orblie at Lv n×10 (+5 needs Lv 50). Reaching +10 takes a long time on purpose.

Re-Egg Orblie

Turn 3 copies of one species into 1 fresh egg with new genes. All 3 Unique or better = Rare egg, all Elite or better = Legendary egg.

Release Orblie

Release spare Orblies for Moon Essence. Better ones give more. Select junk picks plain extras and always keeps your best copy of every species.

Releasing also gives Orbliedex Mastery points for that species.

Break Orblie

Breaks an Orblie through its level cap with plants and Coins. Orblies waiting at a cap are listed first with a BREAK tag. Full details in Maps & plants.

Traits Orblie

Reroll a trait for 120 Moon Essence or 20 Moonshards.

  • Keep trait: ON keeps the same trait and only rerolls its tier (double cost).
  • Pity: after 25 rerolls without an Epic or better, the next one is guaranteed Epic or better.

What is safe?

The Forge never uses up Orblies that are on your team or Locked. Auto-fill and Select junk also skip Starlit, Glimmer and already-fused copies.

Gear & items

Gear makes you stronger: more attack, defense, HP, crit and speed. Open your character window from the level badge on the XP bar.

7 gear slots

Backsword · Ring · Necklace · Earrings · Boots · Bracelet · Bag

Each item has a level; you need that level to wear it. Only the Backsword shows on your body.

Gear quality

Normal → Refine → Unique → Elite → Super. Each step adds stats and a coloured glow in your Bag.

Dropped gear looks plain on the floor. Its quality is revealed once it's in your Bag.

Finding gear

Gear drops from knockouts (rare), bosses and chests (Void chests most). Walk over a drop to pick it up. Better maps drop higher-level gear. A +1 drop is a lucky bonus.

Meteors

Upgrade stones from +1 to +8. They drop now and then while hunting, a lot more during a Meteor Shower. Use them in Forge → Compose or sell them at the Trading Post.

Star Cores

Very rare and very valuable: they evolve Orblie quality and raise gear quality. From bosses, World Boss MVPs, the Wishing Moon, Moon Caches and Grumbo's Upgrade Forge shop.

Potions

Drink them from Bag → Potions. They come in tiers (I, II, III...) and run on a timer shown in the bottom-left.

  • Finder's Fizz: more drops
  • Shardglow Tonic: more Moonshards, Meteors and Star Cores
  • Pounce Punch: your team hits harder
  • Zoomberry Soda and Hatchling Honey: found while hunting; hover them in the Bag for their effect

Maps & Breakthrough plants

Five maps, each with 10 species ranked from weakest to strongest, its own level range and its own rare plant. Buy a map with Coins at its gate.

Use the Map button in the menu to travel to any map you've unlocked.

Breakthrough

Orblies stop levelling at the end of each map's range. To break through, take that map's plant and some Coins to Forge → Break.

Harvesting plants

Every map has 8 glowing plant patches. Walk up and hold E to harvest one plant.

A patch then regrows for you after 15 minutes. Other players have their own timers, so nobody can take your plants.

Knocked-out Orblies on a map sometimes drop its plant too, and bosses drop it more often.

Forager trait on your team = a chance of 2 plants per harvest.

Moonlit Isles extras

12 hidden Moon Caches: each gives 5M Coins, a +2 Meteor and 60 Moon Essence. Find 4 for a Star Core, 8 for a +4 Meteor, all 12 for 150 Moonshards.

Sea Orblies behave differently: Axli runs away, Crabli hides in its shell, Octobi inks and blinks away, Sharki attacks on sight, Whaloo is rare.

Eggs & breeding

Breed two Orblies for an egg that carries their genes, then hatch it.

Breeding Station

Put two Orblies in the Breeding Station in the village. Each Orblie can breed 3 times. The egg goes to Bag → Eggs.

Genes

The baby gets the better parent's Potential, with a 15% chance of one grade higher. Starlit parents raise the Starlit chance a lot (one parent 5%, both 20%).

Hatching

Take eggs to the Hatch Incubator. Common, Rare and Legendary eggs take different times; Legendary eggs hatch Elite and Super often. Quality is still rolled at hatch, so luck boosts help.

Eggs can be traded.

Rewards & Moon Pass

The green Rewards button. Three tabs: Daily Gift, Quests and Moon Pass.

Daily Gift

A 7-day streak calendar. Claim once a day; day 7 has a Star Core. Miss more than a day and the streak starts over.

Daily Quests

3 new quests every day (catch, knock out, break chests, fuse, hatch, breed...). They're shown on the right of your screen too. Claim each one for coins, items and Pass XP.

Weekly Challenge

One big goal per week, for example knocking out 5,000 Orblies. The reward includes a Star Core, Moonshards and Meteors.

Moon Pass

A 30-day season with 30 tiers (400 Pass XP each). Pass XP comes from the Daily Gift, quests, the weekly challenge and catching.

  • Free track: a reward on every tier for everyone.
  • Premium track (459 Robux per season): bigger rewards on every tier, Moonshards right away, and +25% Pass XP.

Events & World Bosses

The violet Events button lists what's live and what's coming, with a countdown and a Join button that takes you there. Banners at the top can be shrunk with their small X.

Sky Chest

About every 10 minutes a chest falls on Meadow Fields. Break it together. Everyone who did at least 3% of the damage gets 10K Coins plus a Void chest drop roll.

World events

Every 15 minutes, one of:

  • Meteor Shower: 4× Meteor drops for 3 minutes
  • Golden Hour: 2× Coins for 3 minutes
  • Stampede: a herd of one species floods the busiest map

World Bosses

Every 30 minutes a giant angry Orblie appears on a map for 6 minutes. It slams, charges, drops sky strikes and roars (which dazes your Orblies). Red zones on the ground show where it will hit, so dash out.

It gets angrier at 60% and 30% HP and calls minions.

  • Do at least 2% of the damage to get rewards.
  • The top 3 damage dealers (MVPs) get a Star Core.
  • There's a 3% chance (10% for #1) to tame the boss as your own Orblie.

Bosses: Brumblet (Meadow), Ragefang (Woods), Scorchjaw (Canyon), Stormclaw (Frostpeak), Venomunk (Isles).

Orbliedex & Mastery

The book in the menu. It shows every species, ranked by map. Ones you haven't found are dark silhouettes.

Mastery points

Each species has a Mastery level from 0 to 10.

  • +1 point per catch or hatch
  • Releasing gives points by quality, Potential, Starlit and Glimmer

What Mastery gives

  • Per level: +3% damage and +2% catch chance for that species
  • Lv 5 and Lv 10: extra Starlit catch chance
  • Every 5 Mastery levels across all species: +1% Coins forever (up to +100%)
